FR: September 9-16, 2023: Week 11
The family trip of a lifetime!

Week 11 of our season and fourth on the Matupiri river. We had the pleasure of hosting the whole Hall family. The week started a little bit slow, some of the guys had to adjust their technique while some of the lagoons were a tad high. But as the week moved forward, so did the Hall’s; catching quite a few 15s and 16s with the biggest one caught by Brad – a 17lb unit that wouldn’t stop without a proper fight. Waters keep going down at a fast pace, 3 inches/day and we are planning to stay for a couple weeks more before it becomes too dry and hot for Peacocks.
Weather: We had cloud cover and some short showers that helped cool off the river and our angler although sunny bright skies were the usual during the week. Our South West Zone forecasts roughly the same weather for next week.

Big smiles and beginner’s luck
820 Peacocks boated by 8 anglers
10th week of the season and the third on the Matupiri. The Kloewer family had a blast, with some great quality Peacocks boated. Although the experienced men racked up numbers and boated plenty Peacocks in the teens, their youngest caught the biggest one of the group; a beautiful 18 pounder that fought hard and refused to get in the net. 16s were a usual sight although some big lunkers were lost in the brush. All in all, some core family memories were created giving us the necessary motivation to keep up the good work. The Matupiri is producing a great average size and we are planning to stay here for a while.
Weather: Clear skies most of the time with a couple of intermittent showers. Our South West Zone forecasts great weather and some cloud cover for short periods of time.

Big ones incoming! Staying paid off!
736 Peacocks boated by 8 anglers
9th week fishing the Amazon and our plan to stay on the Matupiri paid off. This time it was the Brock family together with 3 US anglers that had the opportunity to fish these exclusive waters. Guests had a blast, boating some high-quality fish; a few 18s and 19s. But the highlight was the 20-pounder caught on the 4th day which made for a hard beast to reel in. It was measured at 79cm. This week was all about quality fish rather than numbers; average size of fish increased considerably.
Weather: Sunny days with some cloud cover. We experienced a few short showers but that isn’t keeping the water level from decreasing. Our South West Zone forecasts good weather with some chances of rain.
