Mid-Week Fishing Report: Aug 18 – 20, 2018 (2 ½ days)
LAST GROUP AT OUR MARMELOS RIVER PRIVATE FISHERY FOR THIS SEASON
Last Saturday we received the Barrantes mixed group of 8 anglers, fly fishermen and baitcasters. They have endured several heavy rain episodes during the weekend that affected their yields, nevertheless they managed to land a 19lbs trophy that presented quite a fight. Weather is expected to improve significantly for the rest of the week (see forecast below). Last week the Shuliak group ended the week with 1.232 landed peacock bass using mixed fishing styles.
This is the last group fishing at our Marmelos private fishery that will be closed for the rest of the Season. We have evaluated that we have reached the support capacity of the fishery ( technical parameter: 1.6 km. per angler for rivers with few lagoons), and although fishing conditions continue to be good, and yields have been superb, our preservation policies mandate us to close it for the rest of this Season. We strongly believe that strict compliance with sustainability policies guarantee that this fishery will be fully recovered for next Season anglers.
Dry – Zone S.West is our next operative Zone, and we are already scouting best areas to break waters in the coming weeks. Floating Suites will be moving into the Matupiri river area in the next two weeks, after which we intend to resume operations there.
Water levels are still good and keep descending (see graph below – Humaita). After enduring some heavy rain storms during the last weekend, weather forecast only shows some mild tropical storms with no significant rainfall (see forecast below – Manicore).

Weather forecast for Manicore , in the area of influence of the Marmelos private fishery shows some normal mild tropical storms with no significant rainfall for the rest of the week.

Water levels are better but still a bit too high for good fishing, and they keep dropping as expected, which is normal for this time of the year. We are constantly scouting this area to determine best areas to break waters in September.
(beige in map above) Dry-Zone N.WestWater levels are high and have already peaked in the Barcelos area. It is still closed for the season, which is normal for this time of the year. Water level graphs, indicate that probably this Season we will be having a similar pattern as last year at the Negro and Branco basins.
